Rex

Pit Bull

Duke arrived at White Oak Animal Safe Haven on July 19, 2016. He was a stray. He immediately became a volunteer favorite.  He likes to take walks and has a very playful personality.

Duke needed to be sent to school for special training. He was beginning to show aggressive behaviors. The decision to send him for retraining was a tough one for us.  However knew it was the right decision for Duke. His trainer is pleased with his progress and is confident that Duke will do great with the right person.

Duke has made such great progress and he is ready to find his forever home. Anyone interested in adoption will need to attend training sessions with Duke at his school in the South Hills. Duke will need a confident leader. He needs to go to an adult only home with a quiet calm environment. Those interested in the adoption process will need a lot of patience.  It takes some time for Duke to trust people. Once you gain his trust he will be your best buddy for life.  He will love you and look forward to your belly rubs in his new forever home. Duke loves his friend Layla.  We would really like to see them adopted out together.

Please contact the shelter by phone if you are interested in adoption.

Layla first came to the White Oak Animal Safe Haven in March 2013. She came from  an abusive home and survived a fire in McKeesport. All the volunteers here at the shelter adore Layla.   She has a very sweet and loving personality. While at the shelter Layla began to develop some overprotective behaviors with humans due to her tragic past.  We knew that something needed to be done to help Layla become the best dog that she could be.

We shed many of tears making the decision to send Layla to school for retraining.

While the decision was tough, we made the right decision for Layla. She is making great progress and it is time for us to find her forever home.  Layla‚Äôs trainer reports, that once she gets to know you, she will love you, and make a wonderful canine companion.

We are looking to find the perfect home for Layla. Her family needs to be exceptional.  Anyone interested in adopting Layla will need to first spend time with her and her trainer in South Hills. Those interested in the adoption process will need a lot of patience.  Layla is still a bit wary of strangers. She must go to an adult only home with a fenced in yard.  You must be experience with large dog.  Layla will do best in a calm peaceful environment. Layla loves her buddy Duke.  We would really like to see them adopted out together.

Please contact the shelter by phone if you are interested in adoption.
